The Alphorn is a small Swiss restaurant located on
highway 26 halfway between the town of Collingwood
and the Blue Mountain Ski Resort and Intrawest
Village.
Our specialty is wienerschnitzel, which was
named the best in Canada by Ski Canada magazine.
Also very popular are our cheese and beef fondue,
trout, chicken, steaks, and our traditional Swiss
appetizers such as raclette, buednerfleisch, and
hearts of palm salad.
The Alphorn has been at this location since the
early 1980s and has become a local landmark over
the years, made especially famous by our unique
birthday celebrations. People of all ages beg to
visit the Alphorn every year for their birthdays
and for many families this has become a ski season
tradition.
Our atmosphere is that of a Swiss family
restaurant with our wooden tables, stucco walls,
and an unbelievable collection of memorabilia,
featuring autographed bibs and skis from famous
racers, currency from all over the world, and
other oddities like the 5 foot long watches.
Our intimate copper bar carries an extensive
wine list, as well as our “Beers of the World”
passport, offering 40 different types, our draft
selection, and our featured “Beer of the Week”.
Most importantly, we always keep a full stock of
Schnapps, especially Apple Schnapps, which has
been made infamous by the Apple Liquor song.
